Platts launches new CIF ARA PVC spot price assessment

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has launched a new weekly spot price assessment for suspension polyvinyl chloride on a cost, insurance and freight, CIF, Antwerp-Rotterdam-Amsterdam basis, effective Jan. 28.

The launch reflects the European market's changing trade flows and position as a net importer of PVC, as well as the increase in activity conducted on a CIF ARA basis.

The assessment has the following specifications:

The launch follows a proposal note published Dec. 3, available here, and a decision note published Dec. 18, available here.

The assessment takes into consideration price information gathered up to the close of the assessment process at 4:30 pm London time, including firm bids and offers, trades and indicative values, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.

The weekly assessment is published on Wednesdays, alongside other European PVC assessments, and is included in the weekly European and Turkish PVC commentary and rationale.
