Platts publishes US Gulf Coast Export Ethylene assessment

S&P Global Platts began publishing weekly spot price assessments for US Gulf Coast ethylene exports with effect from Jan. 8, 2021.

The export ethylene assessment reflects the value of ethylene exported from the US Gulf Coast, on an FOB basis, for loading in the next calendar month. The assessment rolls on the 16th of each month. For example, Jan. 1-15, the assessment reflects February loadings; Jan. 16-Feb. 15, the assessment reflects March loadings.

Platts will consider data for assessment purposes that includes but is not limited to: transactions, bids and offers on an FOB US basis normalized to the US Gulf Coast at terminals along the Houston shipping channel. In the absence of trade data, Platts may also consider freight netback values from destination markets, including Northwest Europe and Northeast Asia. In this case, the assessment would reflect the most competitive netback value. The assessment is published in cents/lb and $/mt, and reflects the prevailing market value at 4 pm CT. The minimum volume size will reflect 3,000 mt and the maximum volume size will reflect 12,000 mt. The assessment is published in Olefinscan, on Platts Market Center and the on Platts Petrochemical Alert under the following symbols:

AEFOA00 Ethylene FOB USG cts/lb

AEFOA04 Ethylene FOB USG cts/lb WAvg

AEFOA03 Ethylene FOB USG cts/lb MAvg

AEFOB00 Ethylene FOB USG $/mt

AEFOB04 Ethylene FOB USG $/mt WAvg

AEFOB03 Ethylene FOB USG $/mt MAvg

This assessment is published alongside a new assessment for ethylene freight from the US Gulf Coast to Northeast Asia. That assessment is published on Platts Petrochemical Alert page 417, in the Petrochemical Service on the Platts Platform, in the Platts pricing database under the following symbol: AUSNA00 US-NE Asia 9-12 kt Weekly

For more details on that assessment, please see the subscriber note here: http://plts.co/w9If30rrTS3. Additionally, market commentary for the export ethylene market will be found on PCA page 1190 daily and PCA page 6199 weekly.
