Platts discontinues renewable diesel cost of production prices Jan. 2, 2026
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has discontinued its renewable diesel (RD/HVO) (UCO) Cost of Production prices, effective Jan. 2, 2026.
Platts has seen increasing liquidity in renewable diesel (HVO) spot markets. This has led to the cost of production calculation becoming less relevant as a reflection of the RD (HVO) market.
As of May 1, 2024, Platts launched market-based price assessments for European RD (HVO), that take into account bids, offers, trades and other relevant information. The two European price assessments reflect RD produced from feedstocks in Annex IX-A and IX-B of the Renewable Energy Directive (RED). Further details can be found here.
As of Aug. 1, 2024, Platts launched market-based assessments for US West Coast RD (HVO) that take into account bids, offers, trades, and other relevant information. The four price assessments reflect RD of 99% and 100% purity, delivered to both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Further details can be found here.

In addition, as the RD Cost of Production (Tallow) w/ Credits USWC will no longer be published, Platts will no longer publish the USWC RD Credit Value (AUSWA00), derived from the RD eligible US federal and state level credits and taxes.
