Brazil turns to new polyethylene, PVC sources amid US antidumping duties

The second half of 2025 has seen a steep increase in polyethylene and PVC shipments from Egypt to Brazil, after a $199 antidumping duty against US polyethylene was approved and the antidumping duty on US PVC was raised from 8.2% to 43.7%. Though Egypt has an import tax exemption due to a bilateral agreement with Brazil, market participants point to limited material availability as a source of concern.
