Bunker fuel prices increase amid disruptions

Escalating tensions in the Middle East have caused major shipping disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, leading to higher bunker fuel prices and longer transit times for exporters reliant on Middle East and Red Sea routes that must divert around the Cape of Good Hope.

The spike in bunker fuel costs is a key driver behind the overall increase in shipping expenses.

Marine fuel 0.5% S delivered Singapore price increased 118% from Feb. 27 to March 13, Platts data showed. Meanwhile, marine Fuel 0.5% delivered Rotterdam price surged 62%.
