Commercial operations expected in mid-2024
Ternium USA plans to invest $98 million to expand its facility at the Port of Caddo-Bossier in Shreveport, Louisiana, through the addition of a second coil coating paint line, the company said Dec. 17.
The second coil coating paint line will have an annual capacity of 120,000 st/year, which will increase its production capacity by 53%, according to the company.
Construction of the facility is to begin in the first quarter of 2022 and Ternium expects commercial operations at the additional production line to begin by mid-2024.
The coil coating expansion is part of the company's strategy to add complementary volume, range and services to its existing local platform, Ternium USA President Michael Guhl said in a statement.
Ternium operates 17 production centers located in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, the US, Guatemala and Mexico.
The state of Louisiana said it will provide Ternium with a $1 million performance-based award to support infrastructure costs, according to a statement from Governor John Bel Edwards's office. The company is also expected to utilize the state's Quality Jobs and Industrial Tax Exemption programs, Edwards office said.
