Cement makers lobby for infrastructure bills, industrial permitting reform
Industry pushes for critical material status for cement
Cement companies will take to Capitol Hill June 3 and June 4 to advocate for the passage of the federal highway bill, said the American Cement Association, a trade group.
The BUILD America 250 Act reauthorizes $580 billion in federal surface transportation programs for five years, covering highways, bridges, transit, and other transportation infrastructure.
"Our industry is investing in innovation, efficient technologies, and domestic manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand for resilient infrastructure and affordable construction materials," Diane Tomb, president and CEO of ACA, said in a June 2 statement. "Lawmakers have an opportunity to support these investments through practical, durable policies that strengthen U.S. manufacturing and maintain American competitiveness."
Cement manufacturers will also make the case for recognizing cement as a critical material for US national security.
Additionally, members are interested in supporting investments in advanced cement technologies and carbon management.
