HeidelbergCement gets Madhya Pradesh approval

New plant uses fly ash in production process

Vietnam cement prices rise to $39/mt FOB

HeidelbergCement India has received regulatory approval to establish a new cement blending and grinding unit in Madhya Pradesh, according to a company statement May 18.

The Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board granted consent to establish the project on May 17, the company said in a disclosure submitted to Indian stock exchanges.

The plant will be located in Dongaliya village, Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh, and will utilize fly ash under long-term supply agreements as part of its production process, the statement said.

Several Asia-based buyers and traders said that the project aligns with the Indian cement sector's broader focus on expanding production capacity and increasing the use of industrial byproducts to improve cost-efficient and sustainability.

"India's cement producers are increasingly focusing on cement production expansions, particularly in regions with strong infrastructure demand," a Southeast Asia-based trader said.

"More producers are increasingly switching to alternative fuels to run cement plants, as coal prices are very high," said an Asia-based trader.

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, assessed cement (ASTM type I) FOB Vietnam at $39/mt on May 14, up from $38.5/mt the previous week. Platts also assessed cement clinker FOB Vietnam at $34/mt, up from $33.5/mt FOB the previous week.
