Turkey's clinker production surged in 2025 on strong cement demand and exports

The Turkish cement sector's clinker production soared in 2025, amid historically higher cement production and strong export sales, monthly data from the Turkish Cement Manufacturers' Association (TurkCimento) and the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) showed.

Clinker production in Turkey reached 82.7 million mt in 2025, 6.7% higher year over year, while cement production hit a historically high level at 93.7 million mt, up 10.5%, on strong consumption and export sales, according to TurkCimento data.

Turkey's exports of clinkers under HS code 252310, meanwhile, increased substantially by 43% year over year to 7.49 million mt in 2025, TUIK data showed.

Italy was the top market in 2025 with exports reaching 1.08 million mt, while shipments to Romania totaled 815,000 mt.

Turkey's other top export destinations in 2025 were Spain at 517,000 mt, Ghana at 493,000 mt, the US at 423,000 mt and France at 422,000 mt.

Turkey's clinker production capacity was 101 million mt/year, while cement production capacity stood at 149.3 million mt/year, Turkish Cement Producers' Union data showed.

This capacity ranks Turkey third after China and India.

Platts assessment for ordinary Portland cement (CEM I 42.5R) (bulk) was at $54.50/mt CEMDEX Turkey on March 12, while assessment for Cement clinker (OPC grey clinker) was at $45.50/mt FOB Turkey, both up 50 cents/mt week over week, according to S&P Global Energy data.
