Cement imports rise 28.6%, exports fall 1.2%
Cement consumption up 10.4% at 16.2 mil mt
Spain's cement imports rose 28.6% over November 2024-October 2025, while exports fell 1.2% to nearly 4.7 million mt and consumption soared 10.4% to 16.2 million mt over the same period, according to data released Nov. 21 by Oficemen, the Spanish cement association.
Cement consumption rose 18.5% year over year to nearly 1.7 million mt in October, bringing total consumption during the first 10 months of 2025 to nearly 13.8 million mt, up 1.35 million mt year over year, the data showed.
"The sector has not reached a similar level of consumption since August 2011, an encouraging figure that allows us to anticipate a year-end of over 16 million mt. Even so, it would be necessary to maintain a stable rate of consumption in the coming months to consolidate this trend and respond adequately to the housing and infrastructure needs demanded by our country," said Aniceto Zaragoza, general manager of Oficemen.
