Gas Aqua transports 25,000 mt from Saudi Arabia

First non-Iranian vessel enters Gulf since war

Ship transfers cargo to Searambler in Oman

An ammonia cargo has sailed through the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since July, according to S&P Global Commodities at Sea data.

The 25,000 mt Gas Aqua loaded at Ras al Khair in the Persian Gulf over Oct. 3-6, and arrived at Fujairah in the Gulf of Oman Oct. 9, according to CAS data.

The ship then transferred its full ammonia cargo to the 25,000 mt Searambler in Oman over Oct. 11-12.

The shipment is significant as it is the first time a non-Iranian-linked vessel has sailed into the Persian Gulf to load ammonia since the US/Israel war with Iran started in February.

It is also the first ammonia shipment through the Strait of Hormuz since an Iranian cargo exited in July.

Only three non-Iranian cargoes have sailed through the Strait since the outbreak of the war in the Middle East - two loaded in Saudi Arabia and one in Qatar.

Those three shipments were all on ships that were already in the Gulf when the war started.
