Platts proposes to change monthly rollover dates for US ethylene, propylene and propylene oxide price assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to change the monthly rollover dates for US ethylene, propylene and propylene oxide price assessments, effective May 1, 2024.

Under the proposal, Ethylene FD Choctaw, Ethylene FD Mont Belvieu, Poly Grade Propylene FD and Propylene Oxide FOB US Gulf Coast assessments would roll into the next month on the first of the month.

This means that the M1 assessments would refer to the calendar month from the first working day of the that calendar month through to the last working day.

This change aims to better reflect current market trading practices and reflect spot market liquidity in the last three calendar days of each month.

There would be no changes to the specifications of these assessments.

Under the current methodology, Platts publishes prompt (Mo01) and forward (Mo02) month assessments for these products, which roll into the next month three calendar days prior to the end of the month.

For example, on March 28, the Mo01 assessment reflects loading/delivery for balance of March. On March 29, the assessment starts reflecting loading/delivery within April.
