Platts launches daily FOB US Gulf Coast Linear Alpha Olefins assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched daily linear alpha olefins assessments for the US, namely, butene-1, hexene-1 and octene-1, effective Dec. 23.

The new assessments complement Platts' existing coverage of ethylene and polyethylene markets.

The assessments were first proposed in a subscriber note published on Nov. 11, 2024, and can be found here, with a subsequent decision note published on Dec. 3, 2024, and available here .

The assessments are published on an outright basis and consider market information reported to Platts and published as heards throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, trades and indicative values, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the Platts Market on Close assessment process.

The new assessments, published in cents/lb, will take into consideration price information gathered up to the close of the MOC daily at 4 pm Houston time. The assessments will be published in Olefinscan, in Platts' database and on Platts Connect.
