Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will launch daily linear alpha olefins assessments for the US, namely betene-1, hexene-1 and octene-1, effective Dec. 23.
The proposed assessments will complement Platts existing coverage of ethylene and polyethylene markets.
The assessments were first proposed in a subscriber note published Nov. 11, 2024 and can be found here.
The assessments will be published on an outright basis and will consider market information reported to Platts and published as heards throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, trades, and indicative values, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.

Pricing information for domestic material may be normalized accordingly.
The new assessments, to be published in cents/lb, will take into consideration price information gathered up to the close of the assessment process daily at 4:00 pm Houston time. The assessments will be published in Olefinscan, in the Platts database and on Platts Connect.
