Platts launches new Renewable Capture Price Indices

Effective Dec. 16, S&P Global Platts has launched its Renewable Capture Price Indices.

Platts Renewable Capture Price Indices track weighted average prices that renewable energy generators receive for the electricity they produce across a daily period, based on hourly generation and pricing data.

New Renewable Capture Price indices will provide the market with an independent and transparent view on how renewable revenues are changing through time as the energy transition accelerates and renewable energies make up a greater share of the generation mix.

Platts will publish daily Renewable Capture Price Indices in five countries. Onshore, offshore wind and solar Capture Price Indices in Germany and the UK. Onshore wind and solar Capture Price Indices in France, Italy and Spain. They will be updated weekly and then daily during UK working days from January 2022.

Capture Price Indices will be measured in Eur/MWh for Germany, France, Italy and Spain, while for the UK it will be in GBP/MWh.

The Renewable Capture prices will be databased under the following codes:
