Platts proposes publishing new recycled-to-virgin PS spreads in Europe

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to start publishing spreads between virgin general purpose and recycled polystyrene (PS) prices in Europe, effective Jan. 7, 2026.

The proposed spreads would complement existing spreads for recycled polymers. The proposed spreads would be derived from the following Platts assessments:

Recycled PS assessmentVirgin PS assessment
R-PS black pellets DDP NWE (RPSBN00)General purpose PS FD NWE (AALUN00)
R-PS grey pellets DDP NWE (RPSGN00)General purpose PS FD NWE (AALUN00)
R-PS white pellets DDP NWE (RWSWA00)General purpose PS FD NWE (AALUN00)

The new spreads would be published on a weekly basis each Wednesday, in line with the frequency of virgin spot price assessments in these markets.

The calculated recycled-to-virgin polystyrene spreads would be derived from the spot price published on a Wednesday in each respective recycled market.
