Platts discontinues US NBA, 2-EH, VCM, hexane domestic term contract price assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has discontinued the weekly term contract price assessments for US domestic normal butanol (NBA), 2-ethyl hexanol (2-EH), vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and hexane, effective Oct. 7, 2025, in light of a lack of contract market transparency and these assessments' limited relevance.

The term contract price assessments were published in Polymerscan, Solventswire, Platts Connect and Platts Market Center, as well as in the Price Point database under the following symbols:

The last transaction price assessments for US domestic normal butanol and 2-ethyl hexanol were databased on Oct. 2, while the last transaction price assessments for US domestic vinyl chloride monomer and hexane were databased on Oct. 7.
