Platts proposes to discontinue European PET and PVC gross contract price assessments
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to discontinue polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) suspension gross contract price assessments, effective Jan. 1, 2026.
Platts currently publishes a series of PET and PVC net contract price (after discounts) and gross contract price (before discounts) assessments. Gross contract assessments are typically calculated based on typical net-to-gross spreads surveyed from the market.
Under this proposal, Platts would discontinue gross contract price assessments for PET and PVC but continue to assess net contract prices, which provide greater transparency.
The following assessments would be discontinued under this proposal:
