Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will launch a weekly spot assessment for Asian orthoxylene FOB China, in light of increasing export volumes from China amid growing capacity, effective Oct. 17.
The assessment was first proposed in a subscriber note published Aug. 13, available here.
The assessment will reflect spot market information up to the close of the assessment window at 4:30 pm Singapore time (0830 GMT) on Friday. It will be published in $/mt and follow the Singapore publishing schedule.
The new assessment will reflect the product with the following parameters:
| Cargo size | 2,000-3,000 mt |
| Quality specifications | Minimum purity of 98%; maximum non-aromatic content of 0.3% |
| Timing | Loading 20-40 days forward from the date of publication |
| Location basis | FOB China: Dalian, Nanjing, Jingjiang, Yangpu, Gulei; loading from other Chinese ports may be normalized to the par ports for the assessment |
| Credit terms | L/C 30 days |
Pricing information for material with other specifications and terms may be normalized to the proposed standard.
The new assessments will be published alongside Platts' existing OX assessments in Asian Petrochemicalscan, in the Platts database and on Platts Connect.
