Following industry feedback, Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched a weekly recycled high density polyethylene blowmolding spot price assessment on an ex-works India basis, effective Aug. 20.
The new assessment would enhance Platts' coverage of the recycled markets in India and cater to the greater demand for pricing transparency in the region.
The assessment is based on the latest information sourced from the market up to the close of the Platts Market on Close assessment process at 4:30 pm Singapore time on Wednesdays.
The assessment is expressed in Indian Rupee/kg and is also converted into $/mt, using the USD/INR forex symbol found on Platts Connect with the symbol AAFGW00.
The assessment reflects the product with the following parameters:
| Specifications | Black color, non-food-grade pellets, from PCR Waste - MFI 0.3-0.7/2.16 kg, deodorized |
| Basis and location | Ex-works India |
| Timing | 4:30 pm Singapore |
| Volume | 12-25 mt size truck loads |
| Credit terms | Pre-payment up to 7 days post-delivery |
| Laycan | 1-15 days forward loading |
Pricing information for material with other specifications and terms may be normalized to the standard above.
The assessments are databased under the following codes:
| Weekly code | Monthly average | Currency/UOM | Description |
| HBMCI04 | HBMCI03 | INR/kg | Recycled HDPE Black Blow Molding Pellets |
| HBMCU04 | HBMCU03 | $/mt | Recycled HDPE Black Blow Molding Pellets |
The assessment is published alongside Platts' existing recycled plastics assessments in the Polymerscan, Asia PetrochemicalScan and Sustainable Polymerscan, as well as on the Platts real-time petrochemical service (PCA3021, PCA574 and PCA441) and Platts Connect.
Additionally, a weekly market commentary for the recycled HDPE markets will be published every Wednesday on PCA0008, and the weekly rationale will be published on PCA0009.
Platts first announced the new assessments in a subscriber note published Aug. 11.
