Platts, a part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to change the basis location for the FOB Black Sea Sunflower Oil assessment, effective Sept. 1, 2025.
Platts proposes to change the basis location for this FOB assessment ( SFWBL00) to the Port of Chornomorsk, with prices from other locations, including Odesa and Pivdennyi, to be considered and normalized to the basis location. Platts will also continue to gather and publish pricing information from other relevant loading and delivery locations and may normalize such indications for inclusion within the Sunflower Oil FOB Black Sea assessment.
This change is a result of market feedback regarding higher sunflower oil export flows from the POC deepsea ports (Pivdennyi, Odesa, Chornomorsk) and a lack of liquidity from the Danube (Reni/Izmail) ports.
In the event of a lack of deepsea port prices, Platts may include pricing information from other ports such as Izmail and Reni ports, but normalize back to the basis location.
