Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will launch a daily assessment of the ammonia FOB market in North Africa, effective Sept. 2, 2024.
In view of the increased importance of North African ammonia for CFR pricing in Europe, Platts will launch a daily (Monday-Friday) single number spot assessment of the FOB market for ammonia in North Africa.
The assessment will consider price information relating to ammonia from Algeria, Egypt and Libya, with relevant price information normalized where necessary to a basis location of Arzew, Algeria.
The quantity specification of the assessment will be 15,000 mt, with relevant price information normalized where necessary to this point.
The assessment will appear in Platts Fertecon Daily, and will be available via Platts Connect. The daily single price assessment from each Thursday will also be published in the weekly Ammonia Market Report.
It will be assessed daily on a 16:30 London timestamp and will follow the London publishing calendar.
The assessment will be launched under the following codes and will have the following specifications :

Specifications:
Quality: Anhydrous ammonia, which is around 82% Nitrogen and is stored and transported as a liquid under pressure at around -33°C, with no restrictions on carbon intensity.
Quantity: Basis 15,000 mt
Basis and location: Basis port Arzew, Algeria. Other ports in North Africa including Algeria, Egypt and Libya will be considered and normalized where necessary to basis Arzew.
Timing: Loading 1-6 weeks forward.
Frequency: Daily
