Platts to discontinue US NBA, 2-EH, VCM, hexane domestic contract price assessments

Platts will discontinue the weekly contract price assessments for US domestic normal butanol, 2-ethyl hexanol, vinyl chloride monomer and hexane, effective Oct. 7, 2025, in light of a lack of contract market transparency and these assessments' limited relevance.

The assessments that will be discontinued are currently published in Polymerscan, Solventswire, Platts Connect and Platts Market Center, as well as in the Price Point database under the following symbols:

The last price assessments for US domestic normal butanol and 2-ethyl hexanol will be databased on Oct. 2, 2025, while the last transaction price assessments for US domestic vinyl chloride monomer and hexane will be databased on Sept. 30, 2025.

Platts will also continue to report on industry developments in the form of news.

Platts will also continue collecting and publishing heards with any price information pertaining to the contract price negotiations, which might be relevant to market participants.

Platts will continue to publish the FOB US Gulf weekly spot assessments in Polymerscan, Solventswire, Platts Connect and Platts Market Center, as well as in the Price Point database under the below symbols:
