Platts proposes changing names of sulphur, sulphuric acid and ammonium sulphate assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes changing the names of several sulphur, sulphuric acid and ammonium sulphate assessments, effective Jan. 1, 2025.

This change would be made to align the spellings with its editorial standards, which use American English.

The spellings of sulphur, sulphuric acid, and ammonium sulphate in the following assessments would be with an "f" rather than a "ph," effective Jan. 1, 2025:

Platts also proposes to add the word "Sulfur" to the official names of those sulfur assessments that do not currently contain it, such as " Liquid CPT NWE $/mt Qtly", which would become " Liquid Sulfur CPT NWE $/mt Qtly". It would also add the word "Freight" into the official names of freight assessments, such as "Sulphur Middle East-China 35kt $/mt Wkly," which would become "Sulfur Freight Middle East-China 35kt $/mt Wkly," in order to align with the company's assessment naming conventions.

The word "Sulfur" would be added to the following assessments, effective Jan. 1, 2025:

- Liquid CPT NWE $/mt Qtly (FLNEA04)

- Liquid CPT Dlvd Benelux $/mt Qtly (FLDBA04)

- Liquid CPT Dlvd Tampa/Central Florida $/lt Qtly (FLDTA04)

The spellings of sulphur, sulphuric acid, and ammonium sulphate in the following assessments would be with an "f" rather than a "ph" and the word "Freight" would be added to the following assessments, effective Jan. 1, 2025:
