Platts proposes to add basis ports for European and African granular urea assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity insights, proposes to add basis ports to its FCA France, FOB Egypt and FOB Algeria granular urea assessments, effective Aug. 29, 2024.

The proposed changes would add additional specificity to Platts Urea coverage, with the basis ports intended to reflect the most typical discharge locations in each country.

According to this proposal, Platts plans to make the following changes to its granular assessments:

  • FOB Algeria assessment would be basis Arzew
  • FOB Egypt assessment would be basis Damietta and Abu Qir
  • FCA France assessment would be basis La Pallice

Market information related to other loading ports would still be used when reflective of the market and normalized back to the basis ports as appropriate.
