Platts to launch two regional MAP CFR Brazil assessments; refine methodology of existing MAP CFR Brazil weekly range assessment Aug. 7

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will launch two weekly price assessments for granular monoammonium phosphate, CFR Brazil South-Southeast and CFR Brazil North-Northeast, effective Aug. 7, 2025.

The assessments will capture market activity in Brazil's different regions and complement Platts' existing coverage of the MAP market in Brazil.

This follows a proposal by Platts published on June 23, and available here(opens in a new tab).

The proposed assessments will be published as single "close" values and will have the following specifications:

Assessment Name : Monoammonium Phosphate Bulk CFR Brazil South-Southeast

  • Quality : Bulk granular monoammonium phosphate with 11% or 12% nitrogen, and 52% phosphorus content, MAP (12-52-0/11-52-0)

Alignment of weekly range assessment methodology

Additionally, Platts will align the specifications and formalize the relationship between the above two new assessments and the established weekly MAP Bulk CFR Brazil (FMAPE04) assessment, effective Aug. 7, 2025.

The low and high of the weekly MAP range assessment will now be derived from the above proposed MAP CFR Brazil North-Northeast and CFR Brazil South-Southeast assessments. For example, if CFR Brazil North-Northeast is assessed at $700/mt and CFR Brazil South-Southeast at $720/mt, the CFR Brazil weekly range will be reported as $700-$720/mt under the existing symbol FMAPE04. No fresh market information would be considered in this assessment.

The specifications for the existing weekly assessment will also be adjusted to align with the above new assessments. The revised specifications for the CFR Brazil MAP assessment will read as follows:
