Platts extends feedback period for proposed alignment of US Aluminum Transaction Premium publication with US holiday calendar

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is extending the feedback period regarding a proposal to align publication of its US Aluminum Transaction Premium with the US holiday schedule, beginning in 2023.

The assessment, which Platts publishes as a premium or discount to the London Metal Exchange's daily aluminum settlement price, currently follows a London holiday calendar.

Platts is proposing to move the assessment and all associated price points to the US holiday calendar and seeks feedback by July 21, extended from June 30.

Under this proposal, beginning in 2023, there would be no US transaction premium assessment published on the following US holidays -- or days on which those holidays are observed:

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Presidents' Day

Memorial Day

Juneteenth

Independence Day

Labor Day

Veterans Day

Thanksgiving Day

Day after Thanksgiving Day

The proposal would also affect related US aluminum assessments and calculations. All-in calculations, which add premiums or discounts assessed by Platts to underlying settlements from the LME, would only be published on dates that are working days in both the US and UK. Monthly averages of all-in prices would equal the aggregate of published values only.
