Platts proposes to update B30 VLSFO Rotterdam biobunker assessment, Aug. 4

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to update the Rotterdam B30 biobunker price (ABKRA00) to a market-based assessment, effective Aug. 4, 2025.

The updated assessment would reflect a marine fuel blend of 30% used cooking oil methyl ester with very low sulfur fuel oil. Platts would publish the biobunker market-based assessment as a differential to the Platts FOB Rotterdam Marine Fuel 0.5% Barge $/mt assessment (PUMFD00) and as an outright value.

The assessment would consider biobunker stems with volumes of 200 mt to 1,000 mt, on a delivered Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp basis.

The assessment specifications would be as follows:

Other delivery periods and volumes may be considered in the Platts Market on Close assessment process and normalized back to the above specifications.

The delivered biobunker stems would exclude any member state tickets, such as the Netherlands Renewable Energy Units (HBEs).

The biobunker stems considered for the ARA biobunker assessments would have to specify a minimum of 84% GHG savings for the biofuel component, which is equivalent to the default emissions value of 14.9 gCO2eq/MJ against the 94 gCO2eq/MJ comparator, under the EU Renewable Energy Directive.

The assessment would reflect UCOME that holds proof of sustainability obtained in the framework of voluntary schemes approved by the European Commission.

Additionally, the assessment would reflect specification standards in line with the ISO 8217 and EN 14214 for the fuel oil and bio stems, respectively.

The daily assessments would reflect a 16:30 London time market close and would follow the Platts London publishing schedule.

The assessment would be published on Platts Biofuels Alert in the Bunkerwire Report, Bunkerwire Monthly, Biofuelscan report and Biomass-Based Diesel Report.
