June 13, 2025
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to launch a daily FOB NOLA granular urea assessment, effective Aug. 1, 2025.
The daily assessment would better capture day-to-day price movements in the Urea market. The changes would also align Platts' daily and weekly coverage, providing more granular pricing information in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The specifications for the proposed assessment would be as follows:
Assessment Name: Urea NOLA -30 Daily
Quality: 46% N, granular urea in bulk.
Quantity: 1,500 st
Basis and location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Timing: Product to be loaded from 8 to 30 days forward.
Frequency: Daily
Unit of assessment: $/st
Timestamp: 16:30 Sao Paulo, following the Sao Paulo publishing calendar
Simultaneously, Platts proposes to increase the frequency of its current weekly Granular Urea FOB NOLA US Domestic Ston (prompt-7 days) assessment (FGUNE04), effective Aug. 1, 2025.
Platts would change the assessment's frequency from weekly to daily, updating its name to Urea NOLA-7 Daily . Platts would also clarify the timing to reflect that the assessment reflects the "Product to be loaded from 1 to 7 days forward" from the assessment date, rather than "shipment seven days forward" at present.
The revised specifications for the assessment would be as follows:
Assessment Name: Urea NOLA-7 Daily ( FGUNE04)
Quality: 46% N, granular urea in bulk.
Quantity: 1,500 st
Basis and location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Timing: Product to be loaded from 1 to 7 days forward.
Frequency: Daily
Unit of assessment: $/st
Timestamp: 16:30 Sao Paulo, following the Sao Paulo publishing calendar
Finally, Platts would also formalize the range of its Granular Urea FOB NOLA $/st Wkly assessment (FGUND04). While the current methodology employs a market-on-close approach, the revised range for the weekly assessment would be derived from the low and high of prices of Urea NOLA-30 Daily and Urea NOLA-7 Daily for the preceding week ( Fridays to Thursdays ) to establish a weekly range on Thursdays. No fresh market information would be taken into account.
The first weekly range would be published on Aug. 7, 2025.
The revised specifications of the weekly Granular Urea FOB NOLA assessment (FGUND04) would be as follows:
Assessment Name: Granular Urea FOB NOLA ( FGUND04)
Quality: 46% N, granular urea in bulk.
Quantity: 1,500 st
Basis and location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Timing: Product to be loaded from 1 to 30 days forward.
Frequency: Weekly (Thursdays)
Unit of assessment: $/st
Timestamp: 16:30 Sao Paulo, following the Sao Paulo publishing calendar
The prices will be assessed at a 16:30 Sao Paulo timestamp and will follow the Sao Paulo publishing calendar. All assessments would appear in Platts Fertecon Daily, US Fertilizer Report, Nitrogen Weekly Report and Platts Connect.
