Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will adjust the specifications of the weekly CFR NW Europe duty unpaid ammonia assessment and launch an aligned daily CFR NW Europe duty unpaid ammonia assessment, effective June 27, 2025.
The decision to launch to adjust the specifications of the weekly CFR NW Europe duty unpaid ammonia assessment and launch an aligned daily CFR NW Europe duty unpaid ammonia assessment follows a proposal published here May 12, 2025.
The new daily CFR NW Europe duty unpaid assessment is intended to provide a more granular view of the import market for dutiable ammonia in NW Europe.
The specifications of the new daily CFR NW Europe duty unpaid assessment and adjusted weekly CFR NW Europe duty unpaid assessment are detailed below:
Assessment Name: Ammonia CFR NW Europe duty unpaid -daily
Quality: Anhydrous ammonia, which is around 82%nitrogen and is stored and transported as a liquid under pressure at around minus 33 degrees Celsius, with no restrictions on carbon intensity
Quantity: Basis 15,000 mt
Basis and location: T1 spot product, CFR NWE, basis Antwerp/Rotterdam (assessment considers market activity at ammonia-importing terminals in NWE, defined as Finland-France range). In lieu of price information, the assessment will consistently sit at a 5.5% discount to the daily CFR NW Europe duty paid/free assessment – reflecting the EU's third party duty
Timing: Delivery one to six weeks forward
Frequency: Daily
Appears in: Platts Fertecon Daily
Unit of assessment: US dollars per metric ton ($/mt)
The specifications of the established weekly CFR NW Europe duty unpaid ammonia assessment (FANEA04) will be adjusted to mirror those of the new daily CFR NW Europe duty unpaid ammonia assessment.
Platts will also standardize the relationship between the proposed daily assessment and the established weekly CFR NW Europe duty unpaid range assessment.
The weekly CFR NW Europe duty unpaid assessment is currently published as a range with a low and high value. As of June 27, the weekly range will only be derived from the lowest and highest of the daily CFR NW Europe ammonia assessments published over the course of the preceding trading week (Friday to Thursday), rather than being assessed in its own right. No fresh market information would be taken into account for the weekly assessment.
