S&P Global Platts proposes to set the moisture level reflected in its specifications for the 58% iron ore fines assessment (IODFE00) at 8%, effective June 19.
The specification of the 58% iron ore fines assessment (IODFE00) was changed effective May 4, following a market consultation process, but as part of that process the assessment's moisture had not been specified.
A moisture level of 8% is broadly representative for ores in this segment of the market, and would align with the moisture defined for IODEX 62%-Fe CFR North China (IODBZ00), thereby facilitating cross-calculations and comparisons.
The affected assessments are published on the fixed page PMA1105 and PMA1106 of the real-time Platts Metals Alert, in SBB Steel Markets Daily, in the Platts Market Center and in the Platts price database.
Platts seeks feedback on the proposal.
Please send comments, questions and other feedback on these proposals by June 5 to IODEX@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com.
For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing.
Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
