Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched monthly averages for its existing daily and weekly ammonia price assessments.
The launch follows feedback that the publication of monthly averages would be complementary to market practice of employing averages for contract settlement.
The monthly average of the daily prices will be calculated as the mean of the daily assessments published during any given calendar month.
For the weekly assessments, which are published in the form of a "low/high" range, two numbers are calculated: the monthly average of the weekly highs and the monthly average of the weekly lows.
The monthly averages apply to Platts' eight daily spot price ammonia assessments, including the Low-Carbon Japan Korea Ammonia Price (JKAP), and the 15 weekly ammonia FOB and CFR spot and contract price assessments published in the weekly Ammonia Market Report publication.
The monthly averages will appear on Platts Connect, from June 1, and in the weekly Ammonia Market Report, from June 6, as the following:
