Platts to launch monthly averages for existing daily, weekly ammonia assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will launch monthly averages for its existing daily and weekly ammonia price assessments, effective May 16, 2024.

The launch follows feedback that the publication of monthly averages would be complementary to market practice of employing averages for contract settlement.

The monthly average of the daily prices will be calculated as the mean of the daily assessments published during any given calendar month.

For the weekly assessments, which are published in the form of a "low/high" range, three numbers will be calculated: the monthly average of the weekly highs, the monthly average of the weekly lows and the monthly average of the weekly midpoints between the lows and highs.

The monthly averages will apply to Platts' seven daily spot price ammonia assessments, including the Low-Carbon Japan Korea Ammonia Price (JKAP), and the 15 weekly ammonia FOB and CFR spot and contract price assessments published in the weekly Ammonia Market Report publication.

The monthly averages will appear on Platts Connect, and in the weekly Ammonia Market Report.

Platts proposed the launch of monthly average for existing daily and weekly ammonia assessments in an April 4 subscriber note, available here.
