Platts proposes to discontinue US styrene domestic transaction price

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to discontinue its styrene US domestic transaction price, effective Aug 1, 2025, in light of market feedback.

The FOB US Gulf Styrene US Domestic Transaction Price represents a calculated contract price for styrene, based on the industry-standard formula including feedstock natural gas, ethylene, and benzene prices and the average spot price of styrene monomer.

It is currently published every Friday on Platts Connect and Platts Market Center, as well as in the Price Point database under the AASIH00 code.

Under the proposal, the last transaction price assessment would be databased on July 25, 2025.

Platts will continue to publish the FOB US Gulf daily spot styrene assessments, accompanied by a weekly commentary and rationale on Fridays and news reporting on industry developments. The monthly averages for the spot FOB USG price assessments reflect an arithmetic average of all daily assessments during the month. The codes for these assessments and relevant weekly and monthly averages are listed below:
