Platts proposes to include minimum total aromatics for Singapore diesel

Following market feedback, S&P Global Platts proposes to include a minimum Total Aromatics content of 15% of weight reflected in its FOB Singapore 10 ppm sulfur gasoil and invites submissions from interested parties to the review process.

Platts is proposing to add the property of Total Aromatics to its current FOB Singapore 10 ppm sulfur gasoil to reflect current export and import requirements in the Asia Pacific region, starting July 1, 2020.

Platts understands that most of the ultra low sulfur diesel, or ULSD, produced and exported in Asia are well above and reflects the proposed level of 15% by weight.

All other parameters and standards for FOB Singapore Gasoil cargoes will remain unchanged.

Platts current specifications for the Singapore gasoil assessments can be viewed at http://plts.co/G6ya30pvWQh

As part of the proposal, Platts is also proposing the following test methods for Total Aromatics, which are IP 391 and ASTM D6379.

Platts periodically reviews the specifications of all its assessments to ensure they are representative of the most tradable grades.

Such reviews may lead to changes to the existing specifications of an assessment, though any changes would be subject to further industry

consultation ahead of any final decision.
