January 28, 2025
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to launch a daily European white recycled polystyrene pellet spot price assessment, effective March 26.
Details of the proposed assessment are as follows:
Basis and Locations: Delivery duty paid Northwest Europe. Northwest Europe includes Germany, the Benelux region, France and Switzerland.
Standard spot cargo size: Minimum 20-mt lots
Product Specifications: R-PS pellets are post-consumer, non-odorless, non-food-grade, with a melt flow index (MFI) of 4.0-8.0g/10 minutes tested at 200 degrees Celsius, with a density of 1.04-1.07g/cm3. Pellets should have at least 30% HIPS and not include any EPS.
Colour: White pellets
Delivery: 3-30 days forward
Pricing information for material with other specifications and terms deviating from the abovementioned parameters may be normalized accordingly.
The proposed assessment would reflect the spot value of recycled polystyrene at 4:30 pm London time and would follow the London publication schedule.
The weekly average would be published every Wednesday. A weekly commentary and rationale would also be published on a Wednesday. The assessments would be published in Sustainable Polymerscan, on Platts Connect and in the Platts price point database.
The new assessment would complement Platts' existing coverage of recycled black and grey polystyrene, databased under the following codes:
Assessment | Code |
Recycled PS black pellets DDP NWE | RPSBN00 |
Recycled PS black pellets DDP NWE MAvg | RPSBN03 |
Recycled PS black pellets DDP NWE WAvg | RPSBN04 |
Recycled PS grey pellets DDP NWE | RPSGN00 |
Recycled PS grey pellets DDP NWE MAvg | RPSGN03 |
Recycled PS grey pellets DDP NWE WAvg | RPSGN04 |
