Agriculture, Rice
October 29, 2025
In 2024, Cambodian rice exports rose 14% year over year, primarily fueled by a significant rise in paddy exports to Vietnam, which accounted for 89% of total exports, highlighting Cambodia's reliance on this sector.
However, the market dynamics are shifting as Cambodia shifts its focus towards milled rice exports. Countries in Europe and Asia are increasingly interested in Cambodia's fragrant rice varieties, such as Phka Malis and Sen Kra Ob, resulting in export increases of 23% and 36% respectively, compared to the prior year. This trend demonstrates Cambodia's ability to diversify its market presence and seize emerging opportunities within the global rice industry.
