This Awards program offers categories for both business and individual achievement. Most companies self-nominate, and up to 4 nominations per company are welcome. Finalists will be announced on September 9.
Please be aware that all third-party submitters are required to include a valid direct company contact in the entry form. This information is necessary for us to verify the submission. If this requirement is not met, the submission may be disqualified.
Each category has specific judging criteria. Nominators are encouraged to address all relevant criteria that further enhance their Summary and Rationale. For additional clarity, the criteria are explained in detail below per category.
The judges welcome creative responses with quantifiable information and case study examples. The online nomination form allows no more than 600 words for this section of the entry form.

The judges will select the Energy Company of the Year recipient from the full list of finalists in all other categories.
Judges seek excellence in an organization’s total energy strategy, considering factors like leadership, technological innovation, environmental responsibility, consumer care, and noble community outreach. A strong commitment to sustainability is crucial, distinguishing the winner from all finalists in the energy and chemical sectors.
Judging the Platts Global Energy Awards is an impartial panel of international energy experts with backgrounds in regulation, policy-making, corporate leadership, trading and strategic consulting.
Former CEO, LNG Canada and Secretary General, International Gas Union
Andy Calitz is engaged with FutureEnergy.Global helping audiences understand the Global Energy Supply Transition Journey as it plays out on the regional and national economies on six continents. He is based in London. Until recently he was the first Secretary General of the London-based Secretariat of the International Gas Union.
He started his career with Eskom, the South African electricity utility. He joined Shell in 1996, where he was actively involved in the alliances with Gazprom, CNOOC, and SINOPEC, Liquefied Natural Gas shipping, Sakhalin Energy in Russia, the Australian Gorgon LNG project, New Business Development, and LNG Canada.
He was educated as an Electrical Engineer at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, with further qualifications in Commerce, Management and Business Administration at the Harvard Business School and University of the Witwatersrand, University of South Africa and Insead. He has lived in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Boston, London, Lima, Moscow, Beijing, Tokyo, Sakhalin, Perth, The Hague and Vancouver. He has travelled to 94 countries on business and private visits. He is a member of The Royal Institute of International Affairs and a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
President, Chief Executive Officer, Westlake
Mr. Gilson has been our President and Chief Executive Officer since July 2024. Mr. Gilson has also served as President and Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Westlake Partners' general partner since July 2024. Prior to joining Westlake, Mr. Gilson served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Representative Director of Mitsubishi Chemical Group Corporation (formerly known as Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation), an international producer of specialty chemicals and industrial products, from April 2021 until April 2024. From September 2014 until December 2020, Mr. Gilson served as Chief Executive Officer of Roquette Frères, a family-owned global leader in plant-based ingredients and a leading provider of pharmaceutical excipients. Before that, Mr. Gilson served as Vice-Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of NuSil Technology LLC, a global manufacturer of medical- and space-grade silicone technology. Earlier in his career, Mr. Gilson held various leadership roles at Dow Corning Corporation, including Executive Vice President, Specialty Chemicals Business, before becoming Chief Executive Officer of Avantor Performance Materials, Inc.
Mr. Gilson holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Liege in Belgium and an Executive Master of Business Administration from the International Institute for Management Development in Switzerland.
Co-Head of Commodities Markets, Natixis Global Markets
Marc is Co Head of Market Commodities - Global Markets Commodities. Marc has over 35 years’ banking experience, primarily with Morgan Stanley, where he was latterly Managing Director, Vice Chairman of the Commodities Division and Chairman of the firm’s African business. His experience at Morgan Stanley also includes co-founding the bank’s oil trading activities in London in 1986, establishing its energy trading activity in Asia in 1988, and setting up its Singapore office for commodities in 1990. Before joining the finance industry, Marc worked three years for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Cultural Attaché in Hong Kong, and then at Elf Aquitaine (now Total) for over four years as a crude oil trader. Marc joined Natixis as a Senior Adviser in March 2017, was appointed Global Head of Global Markets Commodities in October 2017 and was promoted to his current role in January 2019. He holds a master of science degree in business administration from Sup. de co., Marseille, a D.E.A in business administration from ESSEC/ IAE, Aix en Provence and a D.E.S.S in international trade and transportation from Aix Marseille University. He received a scholarship from FNEGE (Fondation Nationale pour l’enseignement de la Gestion) for various research and taught international finance at HEC for four years, He is Trustee of the Trust of the Friends of the French Institute in London, Chairman of the Crown Estate Paving Commission, Regents Park, Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres and Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur.
Former President, Gas Asia, BP IST
As an executive, Flora has more than 25 years’ international experience in power, oil, gas, LNG and infrastructure across the eastern hemisphere.
From 2009 to 2018, Flora served as the President of BP Gas Asia, where she managed BP’s gas value chain businesses in the eastern hemisphere and was a member of the global LNG leadership team in BP’s integrated supply and trading business.
Prior to BP, after her Master’s study in the University of Maryland, Flora served AES Corporation (NYSE: AES) for 17 years with various responsibilities including strategy development, execution, financing and growth. She was one of the founding members of AES China, and subsequently AES Asia and Middle East businesses, where she was the Managing Director of Business Development.
Flora started her career as a banker after her Engineering degree from Zhejiang University in China.
The 2025 judging process, as always, will rely on the expertise of an impartial panel of international energy experts whose background and experience include regulation, policymaking, corporate leadership, trading, and strategic consulting.
The finalists will be announced on the Platts Global Energy Awards website and in a press release issued by S&P Global Commodity Insights on September 9, 2025.
The judges evaluate the finalists based on the criteria listed for each category, taking into consideration, where appropriate, company profiles and financial performance in the designated timeframe. The winners are then selected by the independent panel of judges. Neither S&P Global Commodity Insights nor its sponsors submit votes or select winners.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in New York City, USA.
