Tech giant NVIDIA talks AI’s sustainability risks and opportunities
In this special Climate Week NYC episode of the All Things Sustainable podcast, we sit down with Josh Parker, Head of Sustainability at technology giant NVIDIA.
NVIDIA develops chips, systems and software that power the world’s AI infrastructure. It is also the world’s largest company with a market capitalization of more than $5.1 trillion as of September 2026.
In the interview, Josh outlines ways AI can help advance climate innovation and accelerate the energy transition. “More intelligence hopefully leads to better decision-making, better policies and better ways to tackle climate change,” he says.
He also acknowledges public concerns about AI’s impacts on energy consumption, water use and jobs. "People have legitimate questions about the impacts of data centers,” Josh says. “It's really important for us and for our partners who are actually building the data centers, I think, to be proactive and transparent.”
