As 2025 progresses, there are reasons for optimism and for caution when it comes to climate change and the energy transition. Demand for reliable energy is surging due to a data center boom that aims to support the expanding digital economy. As data centers become more energy-intensive, renewable energy and increased efficiency have a role to play in reducing their carbon footprint.
S&P Global Energy predicts $60T in energy investment opportunities by 2050 across clean energy technologies, power, and transmission globally under a net zero scenario. Over this same period, S&P Global Sustainable1 identifies almost $25 trillion in cumulative financial impacts for the world’s largest companies due to changing climate hazard exposures under this net-zero scenario.
We invite you to join S&P Global and a panel of financial sustainability specialists for a conversation in how to manage climate risk, identify opportunities, and consider the role of data centers in the energy transition.
