New York — US refinery outages for the season peaked this week, reaching 3.797 million b/d offline for planned and unplanned work, about half of which is in the US Gulf Coast, according to S&P Global Platts Analytics data.

USGC refiners will have 1.921 million b/d of crude processing capacity offline as of October 11, with US West Coast refiners having 445,000 b/d offline as coastal refiners look to ensure their plants in are maximum diesel mode ahead of low-sulfur marine-fuel mandates under IMO 2020.
