Unplanned event at SEGAL system halves gas volume entering UK at St. Fergus

London — A minor outage at gas fields delivering into the SEGAL pipeline will cause an 8 million cu m a day reduction in volumes on July 27, Norwegian transport system operator Gasso said.

The outage, which is due to instrument failure, started at 0400 GMT and is expected to last between eight and 12 hours.

The SEGAL system delivers Norwegian gas into the St. Fergus gas terminal in the UK. According to data from the UK National Grid, volumes entering the St Fergus Shell Terminal gradually dropped to about 6 million cu m/d at 0700 GMT from about 20 million cu m/d at 0330 GMT. Flows were at 6 million cu m/d by around 0900 GMT.

Gassco also announced another unexpected event at the Karsto gas field, the impact and expected duration of which are still unknown.

Aggregated entry flows from the Norwegian gas system were 263 million cu m/d at around 1000 GMT, down from 290 million cu m/d late on July 24.
