FertigHy's French low-carbon fertilizer plant to produce 500,000 mt of CAN 27%

Sustainability-driven deal to save 1 million mtCO2e/year

FertigHy announced Sept. 2 that it has secured bilateral agreements with two of its key strategic stakeholders for long-term offtake agreements regarding its low-carbon fertilizer plant located in Languevoisin-Quiquery, Hauts-de-France.

The France-based greenfield facility will produce up to 500,000 mt of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate 27%, according to the announcement. The agreement covers up to half of the plant's capacity.

The company did not respond to the request for comment on the additional details of the stakeholders involved in the deal at the time of publication.

With these agreements in place, FertigHy anticipates saving approximately 1 million mtCO2e/year, which is an impact comparable with 25% of Paris' local emissions.

The company's strategy focuses on transitioning from fossil-based fertilizers to sustainable alternatives.

Jose Antonio de las Heras Alonso, CEO of FertigHy, said: "This is a major step forward in our mission to decarbonize agriculture in Europe. By partnering with key strategic players, we're offering a practical, scalable solution to reduce Scope 3 emissions with full transparency and long-term reliability."

The offer included a "competitive price," according to the company's announcement, for European-manufactured low-carbon fertilizers under long-term fixed-price contracts.

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, last assessed its CAN 27% CIF Germany (inland) price at Eur320/mt on Aug. 28.

FertigHy specializes in producing sustainable, low-carbon fertilizers aimed at reducing the environmental impact of agriculture, according to the company's website. Their mission is to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable agriculture and food value chain through innovative technologies and strategic partnerships.
