Singapore — A fire broke out and an explosion occurred at Malaysia's Pengerang Integrated Complex early Friday, but the fire was contained within 30 minutes and the situation is under control, Petronas said in a statement.

Register NowNational oil company Petronas said the incident occurred at around 1:25 am local time on April 12 at Malaysia's southern most state of Johor, where the oil refining and petrochemical complex is located.
"Our Emergency & Fire Response Team was deployed and the fire was contained within 30 minutes. The situation is under control and all relevant authorities have been informed," the statement said.
"We will provide additional information in due course as investigation is still being carried out," it added.
