Energy Transition, Natural Gas, Renewables
December 20, 2023
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has temporarily suspended the launch of new calculated assessments for transportation fuel incentives premiums for Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) in North America.
This decision reflects the need for further industry feedback on how best to bring additional transparency to the RNG and transportation fuels space in North America.
Platts had originally proposed to launch calculated assessments for a North America Renewable Natural Gas Transportation Fuel Premium (California) and a North America Renewable Natural Gas Transportation Fuel Premium (excluding California).
Platts proposed the launch of these calculated assessments on Oct. 4, 2023, in a subscriber note available at https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/100423-platts-proposes-to-launch-calculated-transport-prices-for-renewable-natural-gas
Platts will keep the market notified of plans to expand its RNG coverage in North America, including the timing of any proposed new assessments.
