SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to replace German, French, Italian, Spanish power price assessments with exchange data

S&P Global Platts is seeking feedback on a proposal to replace the German, French, Italian and Spanish power assessments in mid-2018 with exchange settlement prices due to the continuing shift in market dynamics toward exchanges in Europe and the increased price transparency provided by exchanges.

Platts is also seeking feedback on a proposal to discontinue the Platts power codes one year after databasing the exchange settlement prices under the Platts codes during the transition phase.

Platts remains committed to providing quality market information, commentary and in-depth analysis in all European power markets and would continue reporting on the above markets' activity, news, events and policy.

All affected codes and symbols are listed below. For some price assessments where there are no corresponding exchange data, Platts would consider their discontinuation with no replacement data available.

Associated monthly average symbols in Market Data category EE and dynamic symbols in Market Data category PE would be replaced with exchange data along with the associated spark and clean spark spreads derived using the settlement prices.
