Following extensive market feedback, S&P Global Platts has launched four new north Asia box rate assessments and amended two existing UK Continent assessments from December 1, 2017.
The new daily assessments reflect the freight prices of carrying forty-foot equivalent (FEU) containers on selected front-haul and back-haul container routes.
The new assessments reflect established global container trade routes and are based on modern container carrier tonnage.
The assessments are published on a $/FEU basis, to reflect how these routes are traded. The full list of new assessments is shown below.

The following assessments remain on a $/FEU basis. The full list of renamed assessments is shown below.

The Platts Container Index is now based upon a weighted average of the 14 spot routes that Platts assesses. The percentages have been derived from Platts cFlow analysis, based on AIS data tracking ship movements between regions. The percentages in the weighted average will undergo regular revisions.
These new assessments are published in Platts Dry Freight Wire, Platts Global Alert service on fixed page PGB 3950 and in the Platts database under the symbols listed above.
