Platts to launch dioctyl terephthalate CFR China, CFR SEA weekly spot assessments

S&P Global Platts will launch two new weekly spot assessments for dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) on a delivered basis into China and Southeast Asia on Jan. 6, 2022.

These new assessments were developed to meet growing demand for pricing information in the DOTP market, and would complement Platts suite of Oxo alcohol assessments into Asia.

The new CFR China assessment will reflect 200-300 mt cargoes for delivery 10-30 days forward from the date of publication into ports of Tianjin, Qingdao, Huangpu and Xiaoxin.

The new CFR SEA assessment will reflect 100-200 mt cargoes for delivery 10-30 days forward from the date of publication into ports of Cat Lai, Haiphong, Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam, Bangkok in Thailand, Jakarata and Surabaya in Indonesia, Port Klang, Penang, Pasir Gudang in Malaysia, Manila in Philippines.

Platts has observed price parity between these locations within their respective regions, and will consider them as par ports for each assessment.

Both assessments will reflect DOTP with a maximum water content of 0.05% and letter of credit of up to 30 days, in line with the prevailing industry practice.

Pricing information for other qualities and trading terms, and for delivery into other ports in China and Southeast Asia may be normalized to the proposed standards.

Platts will publish the new DOTP CFR China and Southeast Asia assessment in $/mt at the close of Asian trade at 4:30 pm Singapore time.

The assessments will take into account bids, offers, trades, indicative values and other relevant pricing information and will follow Platts Market on Close assessment methodology. Full details on Platts Petrochemical methodology are available here: http://plts.co/X1yT30rBzQZ

The new assessments will be published on real-time Platts Petrochemical Alert pages 162, 460, in the Solvents Wire publication, on Platts Market center, on the Platts Dimensions Pro and in the Platts price database.
