Platts launches next-year Netherlands renewable energy units (HBE) assessments Nov 27

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched daily assessments for next-year Netherlands renewable energy units (HBE), effective Nov. 27, 2024.

This is in addition to Platts existing HBE assessments, launched Jan. 2: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/010224-platts-launches-netherlands-renewable-energy-units-hbes-assessments

Platts has launched four new daily assessments, with symbols as follows:

ATHAE00 HBE-Advanced (next year)

ATHAF00 HBE-Annex IX B (next year)

ATHAG00 HBE-Conventional (next year)

ATHAH00 HBE-Other (next year)

Platts will assess next year HBEs from Nov. 27, 2024 to the last working day of the calendar year.

The year-ahead assessments will then roll over to the current year on the first working day of January 2025, and the current year assessments would rollover to previous year on the same day. The previous year assessments would then be discontinued on the last working day of April and the current year assessments will continue until the last working day of December.

From 2025, Platts will begin assessing next year HBE prices on the first working day of November.

As of 2025 Platts will therefore publish:

  • Next year HBEs over November and December
  • Current year HBEs from the start of January to the end of December
  • Previous year HBEs from January through to the end of April

The assessments reflect a minimum unit of 50,000 GJ. Lower volumes would be considered and may be normalized to the minimum specification level.

The daily price assessments are published on PBF1010 and PBF1014 fixed pages. Monthly average assessments will be published in PBF1012 and PBF1015.
