November 26, 2025
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will publish new spreads between virgin general purpose and recycled polystyrene (PS) prices in Europe, effective Jan. 7, 2026.
The spreads will complement existing spreads for recycled polymers. The spreads will be derived from the following Platts assessments.
| Recycled PS assessment | Virgin PS assessment | New spread assessments |
| R-PS black pellets DDP NWE (RPSBN00) | General purpose PS FD NWE (AALUN00) | R-PS black pellets to GPPS (RSPSA04) |
| R-PS grey pellets DDP NWE (RPSGN00) | General purpose PS FD NWE (AALUN00) | R-PS grey pellets to GPPS (RSPSB04) |
| R-PS white pellets DDP NWE (RWSWA00) | General purpose PS FD NWE (AALUN00) | R-PS white pellets to GPPS (RSPSC04) |
The new spreads will be published on a weekly basis each Wednesday, in line with the frequency of virgin spot price assessments in these markets.
The calculated recycled to virgin polystyrene spreads will be derived from the daily spot price published on a Wednesday in each respective recycled market.
Platts first proposed the new spreads Nov. 5, 2025.
